Jackie Shumate, CRNP

Ms. Jackie Shumate earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the UAB School of Nursing in Birmingham, Alabama.

Board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Jackie’s clinical interests include preventative and diagnostic services including colorectal screening, surveillance colonoscopy and evaluation of abnormal imaging or laboratory findings.  Additionally, Jackie helps patients to monitor chronic and complex conditions such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis), Liver Disease (Fatty Liver Disease, Hepatitis, Cirrhosis), Pancreatic Disorders and Malabsorption Syndrome, as well as common GI complaints such as abdominal pain, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, Dyspepsia, Constipation, Gastrointestinal bleeding, Diarrhea and Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

A proud member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and Gastroenterology & Hepatology Advanced Practice Providers, Jackie takes a patient-focused, evidence-based and educational approach to continuity of compassionate care. Additionally, Jackie remains passionate about Colon Cancer Awareness and educating the public on Colon Cancer Prevention.

Married to her high school sweetheart, Jackie and her husband Clint enjoy spending time with their two children, as well as spending time outdoors, walking, camping and traveling. She also enjoys coaching sports and being active in her house of worship.

She draws inspiration from the Bible verse found in Isaiah 26:3, “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
