About Me
Dr. Burkett earned her medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Medicine. She completed her
pediatric internship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland before serving as a Medical Officer in Mississippi and North Carolina. Following active duty, she completed her internship and residency in pediatrics at University of Arkansas Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas.
A United States Navy Veteran in the Medical Corps, Dr. Burkett served as a Medical Officer Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Eleven in Gulfport, Mississippi and a Medical Officer 2nd Maintenance Battalion in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Her military
service honors are many, to include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and Seabee Combat Warfare Device. She is also a proud member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society and the Carl
G. Evers, MD, Society as well as the Naval Commission and Health Professions Scholarship Program.
Dr. Burkett enjoys spending time with her husband and family as well as their two cats, Jerry and Evie. Time spent in the garden is a joy for the family, and their faith is very important to them. Dr. Burkett aspires to be a woman of prayer and encouragement like her own Mother, and an avid student of the Bible.
