About Me
Dr. Will Rutland received his medical degree from UAB Heersink School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama and his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.
With a specialty in Psychiatry, his clinical interests include Behavioral Health and Addiction Medicine.
Dr. Rutland completed a Residency in Psychiatry and a Fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry and Public Psychiatry at the prestigious Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. While in medical school, he received the Leonard Tow Gold Humanism in Medicine Award, which recognizes exemplary students and faculty members in the care of patients.
Board-certified in Psychiatry, Dr. Rutland is a proud member of the Medical Association of the State of Alabama, the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry, the American Psychiatric Association and the American Medical Association. In addition to seeing patients at Baptist Behavioral Care Partners, Dr. Rutland is proud to be serving as the Program Director for the newly established UAB Medicine Psychiatry Residency Program.
In his spare time, Dr. Rutland enjoys cycling, tennis, watching SEC sports and spending time with his wife, Presley, a local Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, and their two daughters.
Dr. Rutland’s favorite quote that he lives by is, “Never worry about numbers. Help one person at a time and always start with the person nearest you.”
