Pharmacy Residency Programs
Thank you for your interest in the pharmacy residency programs at Baptist Medical Center South. As you explore our website, we hope you'll see that we are a forward-thinking organization with abundant opportunities as we work to fulfill our mission in Central Alabama.
Baptist Medical Center South offers two on-site pharmacy residency programs: a PGY-1 program established in 2014 and a PGY-2 program in emergency medicine, which will welcome its first class in 2025. Our programs provide pharmacy residents with the chance to train in advanced clinical settings, preparing them for further training or clinical practice after graduation. We have designed our programs to allow residents to pursue their interests and goals through highly customizable schedules, tailoring the program to their specific interests.

What Baptist Medical Center South Has to Offer
Baptist Medical Center South is a licensed 492-bed, not-for-profit, faith-based acute care regional referral center. It is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (TJC). Since its founding in 1963, Baptist Medical Center South has grown to become Montgomery's largest healthcare facility and Baptist Health's tertiary care center, offering exceptional specialty services and treatment. Through advanced technology, professional expertise, and an exceptional level of personalized care, Baptist Medical Center South is the comprehensive resource for family healthcare in Central Alabama.
The hospital is recognized as a level II trauma center, primary stroke center, and level III NICU and specializes in trauma, cardiovascular, and neurosciences services, as well as being one of only two ECMO-capable sites in the state. As the flagship hospital in the three-hospital system, it also contains five adult ICUs and a specialized oncology floor, each with its own unit-based pharmacy services. Our decentralized model facilitates active engagement with all members of the healthcare team.

As a leading provider of healthcare in central Alabama, we strive to be a leader in ensuring equitable care for all. This means making sure every person entrusted into our care receives safe, high-quality healthcare. As a sign of our commitment, Baptist Health and all three Baptist Health hospitals have joined more than 1,700 hospitals and health systems from across the country in taking the American Hospital Association’s #123forEquity pledge designed to address and eliminate healthcare disparities.
We are committed to doing the work to uphold the kind of diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment our community deserves to have to receive their healthcare and to work.
