What is a Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Specialist?
An MFM specialist is an OBGYN physician who has completed additional years of education and training to serve high-risk pregnancy patients. In other cases where the baby may be the one who faces unforeseen circumstances, an MFM specialist can provide monitoring and treatments before birth to support babies until they are ready to arrive in the world.
Maternal Fetal Medicine can benefit patients who have certain high-risk pregnancies, including:
- Patients who have hypertension
- Patients with a history of previous miscarriages and/or previous problems during pregnancy
- Patients with pre-existing conditions such as diabetes or obesity
- Patients with unknown issues in their ultrasounds/scans
- Patients in the teenage pregnancy age range or who have advanced maternal-age pregnancies
Our Services
- Obstetrical & Maternal-Fetal Medicine, ultrasound and consultations
- Reproductive Endocrinology consultations
- Genetic complications
