Women’s Health Team
Compassionate, friendly, family-centered and highly skilled. Those are a few ways we describe our Women’s and Children’s healthcare providers at Baptist Health. We are committed to providing comprehensive care for individuals at every stage of life, with a team of specialists addressing all your health needs.
Providers in our breast health and imaging centers offer convenient care using the latest technology, including:
- A patient navigator who is a registered nurse that helps coordinate your care
- Registered radiologic technologists with special training in mammography
- Registered ultrasound technologists
- Radiologists who read and interpret test results
Urologists, interventional radiologists, urogynecologists, and gynecologists are also among our other specialists dedicated to treating women at Baptist Health.
Moms and Babies Team
Our team of dedicated health providers for new moms and their babies includes:
- Childbirth educators
- Labor and delivery registered nurses and newborn nursery nurses will guide you through the stages of labor and delivery, pregnancy topics and baby care in our childbirth classes.
- Lactation Nurses
- Our internationally certified lactation consultants, as well as registered nurses with lactation certifications, will prepare you to breastfeed your baby before the birth, visit you in the hospital and assist you when you are home with phone consultation or outpatient appointments.
- Neonatologists
- Neonatologists handle the most complex and high-risk situations for newborns. If your baby is premature or has a serious illness, injury or birth defect, a neonatologist may assist at delivery and care for your newborn afterward. They may even become involved in your care before the birth by consulting with your obstetrician.
- Obstetrics/Gynecology physicians
- Your OB/GYN or gynecologist provides routine gynecological care, pregnancy and postpartum care, and more complex medical conditions throughout a woman’s life.
- Pediatricians
- These specialists care for your child from birth until they are ready to transition to a physician for adults. Many pediatric sub-specialty physicians, such as neonatologists, pediatric cardiologists and pediatric ophthalmologists also treat patients at Baptist Health.
- Respiratory Therapists
- A respiratory therapist cares for newborns who have trouble breathing, particularly babies in our neonatal intensive care units. A respiratory therapist will accompany a nurse and paramedic on Angel One, our ambulance that transfers NICU babies to Baptist Medical Center South from other hospitals.
- Social Workers
- A social worker is a trained professional who may help coordinate your care after you leave the hospital or find various services to assist you.
