Vikas Gupta, MD

Vikas Gupta, MD, MPH - Chair & Program Director

Dr. Gupta graduated from Government Medical College, Bhavnagar in India. He completed his residency training at Montgomery Family Medicine Residency Program and served as Chief Resident during his third year of residency. He completed a Master of Public Health (MPH – Epidemiology) from the University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB). He joined MFMRP as faculty in January 2012. Dr. Gupta serves as Clerkship Director for Family Medicine at UAB Heersink School of Medicine (Montgomery Campus). Dr. Gupta completed NIPDD (National Institute for Program Director Development) in 2014 and participated in the UAB Health Care Leadership Academy in 2014. In addition, he has also served as President of the Alabama Academy of Family Physicians. 

His special interests in Family Medicine are ambulatory medicine and hospital medicine. His teaching philosophy is “to prepare competent and compassionate Family Physicians for the community”. Outside of medicine, Dr. Gupta enjoys playing cricket, table tennis and traveling. He and his wife are blessed with a son and a daughter.


Angela Stallworth, MD

Angela Stallworth, MD - Associate Program Director

Dr. Angela Stallworth is a distinguished board-certified family physician renowned for her unwavering commitment to patient care and medical excellence. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Alabama State University in 1999 and her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University Of South Alabama School Of Medicine in Mobile, Alabama, in 2003. Her journey continued with residency training at the Naval Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida, where she served with dedication and distinction as an active-duty lieutenant commander in the United States Navy.

In 2012, Dr. Stallworth transitioned to civilian life, joining the faculty at Baptist Family Medicine. Her exemplary contributions have been recognized with numerous accolades, including the prestigious Samuel J. Saliba MD Award for Medical Excellence in 2021 and the first recipient of the same award. This distinguished honor is a testament to her embodiment of qualities such as compassion, selflessness, wisdom, integrity, and foresight in patient care, leadership within Baptist Health, and commitment to medical education. Her particular clinical interests include Women's Health and Obstetrics. 

Dr. Stallworth's impact extends far beyond the confines of her practice, inspiring colleagues, students, and the broader community to strive for excellence in all facets of professional and personal life.


Tasha Garrett, MDTasha Garrett, MD, MS, MHS - Clinical Faculty

Dr. Garrett received her medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee and completed her residency at Montgomery Family Medicine Residency Program in Montgomery, Alabama. Board-certified in family medicine with clinical interests in Pediatrics, Women’s health, and Preventative care. Dr. Garrett looks forward to working with the patients of Central Alabama to achieve their best health in every season.

Dr. Garrett previously served as Chief Resident for the Montgomery Family Medicine Residency Program and was named 2021 Outstanding Resident in Family Medicine by the Montgomery County Medical Society. She is a proud member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, and the Medical Association of the State of Alabama.

Spending time with family and friends is very important to Dr. Garrett, and reading historical novels and shoe shopping rank high among the things she enjoys. Dr. Garrett is delighted to serve the patients of Baptist Family Medicine.


Kashiff Muneer, MDKashiff Muneer, MD, MBA - Clinical Faculty

Dr. Muneer graduated from St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine in the Cayman Islands and completed his residency at Montgomery Family Medicine Residency Program (MFMRP). He then became full-time faculty at MFMRP in January 2020. He is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. He also has a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) in healthcare Management. He served as the chair of the Department of Family Medicine at Baptist Medical Center South (2022-2023) He is an Assistant Professor at the UAB School of Medicine – Montgomery Campus. He works as a Hospital Medicine physician in his spare time.

He has worked on numerous projects such as implementing Transitional Care Management in the Baptist Health System, standardizing in-office procedures and teaching residents Leadership and Professional Development skills.

Dr. Muneer is passionate about disease prevention and community health measures within his full-spectrum family medicine practice. He also enjoys teaching medical students and performing in-office procedures. His teaching philosophy is to prepare well-rounded family physicians instilled with compassion and cultural competency for the betterment of the community. He values spending time with his wife and children and traveling.


Trupti Nadkar, MDTrupti Nadkar, MD - Clinical Faculty

Dr. Trupti Nadkar has been part of the MFMRP family since 2018.  She joined the family as a Faculty after finishing three years of residency training with the Montgomery Family Medicine Residency Program.  Dr. Nadkar graduated medical school from Sri Venkateshwara, NTR University of Health Sciences, Tirupati, India.

Dr. Nadkar's interest in Family Medicine comes from the belief that a healthy community is based on good family physicians, and strong, basic education.  As the wellness champion within the program, she spearheads the wellness initiative, recognizing that "wellness" is inherently subjective and cannot be measured by a one-size-fits-all approach. Armed with this understanding, she endeavors to create opportunities for individuals to enhance their overall well-being.

She has made Montgomery her home since she moved from India in 2013 and has settled here with her husband, daughter and son.  Her hobbies include cooking, sketching and artwork.


Folu Olufehinti, MD

Foluwakemi Olufehinti, MD - Clinical Faculty

Dr. Olufehinti is a dedicated and compassionate family medicine physician, with a diverse background spanning continents. After graduating from Ross University School of Medicine in Bridgetown, Barbados, Dr. Olufehinti completed her residency at the esteemed Montgomery Family Medicine Residency Program (MFMRP) in Montgomery, Alabama. Board-certified in family medicine with clinical interests in teaching and providing comprehensive care for individuals of all ages, with a particular passion for procedural skills. She finds fulfillment in mentoring and supervising aspiring physicians while continuing to provide exceptional care to the community of Central Alabama. 

Outside of her professional endeavors, Dr. Olufehinti finds joy in her family life. Married with a young son, she cherishes moments spent traveling with her loved ones, participating in mission trips, and indulging her fascination with crime scene investigation shows.  


Franklin Scott, MDFranklin Scott, MD - Pediatric Faculty

Dr. Franklin Scott joined the MFMRP faculty in 1998. He is a graduate of the University Of Cincinnati School Of Medicine and the Pediatric Residency Program at Emory University/Cincinnati Children's Hospital.

 As a board-certified pediatrician, Dr. Scott works with residents as they care for hospitalized infants and children. His goal is to provide the resident with the skills to care for the child, parent, and family. Dr. Scott's interests outside medicine include working with the Boy Scouts and the Boys and Girls Club.


Heather Whitley, PharmDHeather Whitley, PharmD, BCPS, CDCES, FCCP - Clinical Pharmacist

Dr. Heather Whitley is the Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at Baptist Family Medicine and Associate Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice, Harrison College of Pharmacy at Auburn University. She graduated from Clemson University with a BS in Biochemistry and a Doctor of Pharmacy from the Medical University of South Carolina, College of Pharmacy. 

Dr. Whitley did her residency training at MUSC in Pharmacy Practice with an emphasis on Primary Care and Ambulatory Care. She is a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist (BCPS) and a board-certified Diabetes care and Education Specialist. 

At Baptist Family Medicine she works with residents to provide the most up-to-date education and information available for the care of their clinic patients. She also trains pharmacy students at this site.


Areeba Zain, MD, MPH- Clinical Faculty

Dr. Areeba Zain received her medical degree from Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan and completed her residency in family medicine at the Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon, Pennsylvania.

Board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine, she has clinical interests in hospital medicine, clinical and outcomes research, and outpatient procedures. While in her residency program, she received the Award of Excellence and Resident Scholarship Award in recognition of her high academic performance and strong leadership skills. Dr. Zain is a proud member of the American Board of Family Medicine, American Medical Association, Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, and the North American Primary Care Research Group.

Serving as a provider at Baptist Health Primary Care Partners Narrow Lane, she looks forward to providing compassionate care to and serving the citizens of the River Region and surrounding areas. Dr. Zain also enjoys teaching and helping grow the future of healthcare by serving on the faculty at the Montgomery Family Medicine Residency Program.

Married to a vascular surgeon, Dr. Zain and her husband recently welcomed a newborn. The couple enjoys family time, traveling, and hiking.
