Resident physician salaries and benefits at the Montgomery Family Medicine Residency Program are competitive with other area programs.

Benefits

Health Coverage

Resident physicians are considered Baptist Health employees and are entitled to the system's comprehensive health package afforded to all Baptist Health employees. This package includes health, dental and vision coverage with options for the single resident and the resident with a family.

Disability and Life Insurance

Disability and life insurance is provided at no cost to the resident.

Malpractice Insurance

Malpractice insurance is provided at no cost to the resident for all work done in connection with the residency program. Additional malpractice insurance must be purchased by each resident for moonlighting.

Vacation/Sick Leave

PGY-1 and PGY-2 resident physicians are allowed 23 PTO (paid time off) days per year including personal time, sick time and holidays taken by the program, and 2 Wellness days for necessary doctor's appointments. PGY-3 resident physicians are allowed 23 PTO days, 2 Wellness days and 5 Interview days. PTO days must be taken in the year earned and cannot be cashed in or accrued.

CME Allowance

Resident physicians are allowed up to 5 CME days annually to attend educational conferences. Residents receive the following annual CME benefits:

  • PGY 1: $500
  • PGY 2: $1,000
  • PGY 3:  $1,500

Laptop

MFMRP utilizes an electronic health record system. While in residency training each resident is provided with a laptop computer that will allow residents to chart patient office visits during clinics and access clinic and hospital data while off campus.

Moving Expenses

Up to $1,000 is reimbursed with proper receipts.

Lab Coats

Resident physicians are provided with two lab coats in each year of their residency training. Laundering of the lab coats is provided by the program.

Meals

Residents are provided with a $100 meal stipend each pay period to be used in the hospital cafeteria when the resident is on duty or on call.

Parking

Parking is provided free of charge in the covered physician parking garage.

Call Room

The resident physician call room provides a home-like atmosphere for residents on call. With three secure sleeping rooms, a living room, a study, a kitchen and two baths, residents enjoy the quiet, comfortable setting available at the hospital for overnight duty.
