Curriculum

The Montgomery Family Medicine Residency Program believes in excellence in education.

We strive to incorporate the core of family medicine to include enriching experiences, both in outpatient and inpatient care for obstetrics, pediatrics and adult medicine. We also provide a robust outpatient experience in all areas of medicine while allowing ample elective time to tailor our resident physicians’ learning experience to satisfy their career goals. The program enjoys the support of Montgomery area physicians who serve as clinical instructors and provide specialty and sub-specialty training for the residents' rotations.

The program's annual curriculum is divided into 13 blocks of two to four weeks each instead of a monthly calendar. This allows for 39 rotations for the entirety of the residency experience and also allows all rotations to start on a Monday.

First-year residents start with a four-week block of Family Medicine Practice and Principles (FMPP) that takes them through an in-depth orientation to becoming a successful resident and then they rotate through the rest of the three-year curriculum in no certain order.
