Laboratory Assistant Program
Baptist Health is now offering a seven-week Laboratory Assistant Program! The program will allow participants to gain hands-on experience while attending classes to learn the skills necessary to become a Laboratory Assistant. Upon program completion, students enrolled in the Baptist Health Laboratory Assistant Program have the opportunity for full-time employment with Baptist Health and tuition reimbursement of $600.
2025 Laboratory Assistant Training Class Start Dates:
- February 3, 2025 (apply by December 20)
- August 4, 2025 (apply by June 23)
*All applications, transcripts and letters of recommendation must be postmarked 45 days before the program start date.

Medical Laboratory Scientist Program
Medical Laboratory Scientists perform laboratory testing and interpret patient results in chemistry, hematology, serology, microbiology, and blood bank as part of a rapidly growing field with ample opportunities for professional growth. The Baptist Health School of Medical Laboratory Science is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), and graduates of the school are eligible to sit for the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) national certification exam following Program completion.
Our affiliation with Auburn University and Troy University allows Medical Laboratory Scientist Program students to complete three years of coursework at an affiliated university followed by a one-year internship with Baptist Health School of Medical Laboratory Science. Upon successful completion of the internship, the student is awarded a bachelor's degree from the affiliated university.
Minimum Requirements - Medical Laboratory Scientist Program
- A GPA of 2.5 with two or more medical laboratory science courses (listed below) or a GPA 2.8 with less than two medical laboratory science courses
- Medical laboratory science courses preferred, but not required: blood bank, clinical biochemistry, clinical microbiology, parasitology
- Enrollment at Auburn University or Troy University in an affiliated medical laboratory science program or bachelor's degree from an accredited university
- 16 credit hours of biology and 16 credit hours of chemistry
- Microbiology (with lab) and Immunology within the past five years with a grade of C or better
- Human Anatomy/Physiology, Genetics, Statistics, Hematology, two courses of Organic Chemistry (I & II), and one course of Biochemistry (I or II) within the past seven years with a grade of C or better.
- Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States
